Why it matters
The meeting provides insight into the internal strategy and electoral analysis of a major Indian political party as it attempts to regain lost ground.
The two-day extended district committee meeting of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] concluded in Kozhikode on Wednesday, with the leaders claiming that the political approach of a large section of the electorate, who voted against the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the recent Assembly elections, is gradually changing.
Addressing the media here, leaders such as district secretary M. Mehboob and State committee members P. Mohanan, A. Pradeepkumar, and V. Vaseef pointed out that it was evident in the results of the byelection to the Kuttichira ward of the Kozhikode Corporation. The victory margin of the United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate had come down drastically compared with the 2025 local body election.
