Court allows DVAC to conduct further probe in case against ex-Minister Vaithilingam
A designated court has granted the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) permission to further investigate a corruption case against former Housing Minister R. Vaithilingam. The investigation concerns a ₹27.9-crore case dating back to his tenure in the AIADMK regime.

A designated court for corruption cases has accorded permission to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to conduct further investigation “as expeditiously as possible” in the ₹27.9-crore corruption case involving R. Vaithilingam, who was the Housing Minister in the AIADMK regime, and submit a report in three months.
The court passed orders on a petition filed by the DVAC, seeking permission to investigate the case further. Mr. Vaithilingam, currently a DMK legislator, was the Minister for Housing and Urban Development in the AIADMK regime from 2011 to 2016.
The investigating agency had registered a case against him on September 19, 2024, for an alleged offence he had committed while serving as Minister.
