A 28-year-old carpenter allegedly strangled his wife to death before killing himself at their rented house in Channammanakere Achukattu in South Bengaluru on Thursday.
The police suspect domestic discord led to the murder-suicide.
The deceased have been identified as Manoj, 28, and his wife Sapna, natives of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, who had been married for three years and were living in a rented house in Bengaluru.
Preliminary investigation suggests Manoj allegedly used a dog leash to strangle Sapna before taking his own life.
The incident came to light after neighbours grew suspicious and alerted the police. Officers forced open the door and found the couple dead inside the house.
