A farmer couple was electrocuted after coming into contact with an electric fence reportedly erected to keep wild animals away from crops at Gambhiraopet in Rajanna Sircilla district early on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Ganta Devaiah, 65, and his wife Lakshmi, 58. Their bodies were found in their paddy field early on Friday.
According to sources, the couple had gone to the field, which they have been cultivating on lease, to water the standing crop when the incident happened. The Gambhiraopet police registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the electrocution.
