Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has committed support to the government’s efforts to promote national unity, patriotism, and awareness of the country's sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Nartatez issued the statement following the police force’s participation in the July 12 National Peace Walk at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila which commemorated the 10th anniversary of the landmark 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award. The ruling affirmed the Philippines' maritime entitlements under international law.
