Corporation to clear silt accumulation in drainages ahead of monsoon

The Tiruchi Corporation has allocated ₹3.18 crore for desilting major drainage canals across the city, ahead of the northeast monsoon.
In order to ensure smooth flow in the drains and prevent possible inundation, the Corporation has decided to clear the silt from major drains running to a length of about 216 km in various parts of the city.
The Srirangam Nattu Vaical and Samba Vaical, Kottai Vaical, Rettai Vaical, Kathiri Vaical, Kathan Vaical, Selva Nagar Vaical, Virupatchipuram Vaical, S.S. Nagar Vaical, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar Vaical, Poosari Street Vaical, Madhura Garden Vaical and the drainages along Venice Street, Norh Andar Street, and Butterworth Road are among the drains which are to cleared of silt, according to a corporation press release.
