Minister for Handlooms, Textiles and Khadi M. Vijay Balaji inaugurated the camp at a private marriage hall on Poondurai Road in the presence of MLA K.K. Ananth Moghan and Corporation Commissioner Arpit Jain. Another camp was held at a marriage hall near the Central Bus Stand.
The camp facilitated the registration and verification of waste pickers and their enrolment under the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) scheme. Eligible waste pickers seeking self-employment submitted applications for individual and group loans. Verified beneficiaries were issued NAMASTE identity cards to facilitate access to government welfare schemes.
