Why it matters
This report covers the conclusion of a domestic football season and highlights individual player achievements within the League of Ireland.
Seani Maguire marked Cork City's First Division trophy lift with a first-half double to beat Finn Harps and move clear atop the Golden Boot standings.
The former Ireland international has netted 11 goals in his last eight games since returning from injury, taking his total to 19 for the season in front of a 4,788 Turner’s Cross crowd that included Roy Keane.
The night began with Harps giving City a guard of honour onto the pitch before both teams lined up to applaud Greg Bolger, who this week announced his retirement from a 20-year League of Ireland career.
It ended with Fiacre Kelleher lifting the First Division trophy, the third time City have claimed the title in five years. This time, they will hope their Premier Division stay lasts longer.
Finn McKenlay led a resilient performance from bottom-side Harps, which still resulted in a 13th defeat in 14 games.
