Convicted rapist attacked again upon release from prison
A convicted rapist, Ibrahim Ahmed Gharib, is awaiting sentencing after committing a new rape offense shortly after his release from prison. The victim, who was homeless at the time, reported the assault to police but was initially arrested herself due to distress-related behavior.

Ibrahim Ahmed Gharib (48) was found guilty at the Central Criminal Court of raping and sexually assaulting Christina Foley at Poolbeg Street, Dublin 2 on February 9 or 10, 2025.
Gharib, of Mary Aikenhead House, Dublin 8, was given a 10-year sentence in 2018 for raping a student he met on a bus and followed home to Carlow. He was released from prison in January 2024.
Judge Sean Gillane will sentence Gharib later this month.
