Convention to press for corrective measures in Kalyana Karnataka region

The Kalyana Karnataka Pradesh Abhivruddhi Horata Samiti will organise a ‘Regional Balanced Development Resolution Convention’ (Pradeshika Asamatolana Nivarana Sankalp Samavesha) on September 17 in Kalaburagi city to deliberate on the region’s development concerns and press the State government to implement corrective measures.
Samiti general secretary K. Neela, addressing press persons here on Saturday (September 12), alleged that the Human Development Index (HDI) indicators identified by the Nanjundappa Committee had deteriorated further, according to the findings of the recently constituted Govind Rao Committee, despite substantial allocations to the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB).
She said the KKRDB’s budget and programmes should be recast from a human-development perspective, with priority to education, employment, healthcare, irrigation and social infrastructure.
