PETALING JAYA: The main contractor for a 63-storey condominium project under construction in Singapore will cover the costs of demolishing and replacing a concrete transfer slab which failed to meet standards.

The project's developer, Allgreen Properties, said issues with the slab were detected during regular and procedural quality assessments conducted with the Promenade Peak condominium's main contractor, Woh Hup (Private) Limited.

Allgreen Properties managing director Tho Leong Chye said they decided to entirely replace the concrete transfer slab, which redistributes the load from upper floors to columns or walls below, Singapore's Straits Times reported.

"We believe this is the most prudent and responsible approach to safeguard and uphold the quality and integrity of the development," Tho was quoted as saying in a project update to buyers in May.
