Consumers face Mescom bill payment issue at KarnatakaOne centres in Mangaluru

Consumers in Mangaluru are facing difficulties paying electricity bills at KarnatakaOne centers due to alleged server connectivity issues and disputes over payment methods. While officials claim the system is functional, residents report being turned away, highlighting a breakdown in public utility service delivery.
Why it matters
This reflects ongoing challenges in digital governance and public service accessibility for citizens relying on physical payment centers.
A resident of Yekkur went to the KarnatakaOne centre in Kadri Mallikatte to pay power bills of an apartment in cash on Tuesday and Wednesday. The personnel at the centre refused to receive the bills and sent him away as the KarnatakaOne system was not displaying the Mescom bill details. Another was sent away similarly on Wednesday.
When The Hindu visited the centre on Thursday, the personnel at the bill counter said the problem was at the Mescom end. “We received the payment of only one consumer whose bill amount got displayed on our screen. There were only a few such payments received by us every day since Tuesday. We have raised the issue with the Mescom, and the issue is yet to be addressed,” the KarnatakaOne personnel at Kadri said.
