Construction of Vaduthala railway overbridge, Perandoor-Vaduthala bridge to begin on October 7

Construction for the Vaduthala railway overbridge and the Perandoor-Vaduthala bridge in Ernakulam is set to begin on October 7. The projects aim to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the region with a combined budget of over 126 crore rupees.

The inauguration of the construction of the Vaduthala railway overbridge and the Perandoor-Vaduthala bridge will be held on October 7. Public Works Minister P.K. Basheer will inaugurate the construction. The projects are expected to alleviate traffic congestion in Ernakulam city, according to a statement.
The new bridge, which is being constructed across the Perandoor Canal and will connect Vaduthala and Perandoor, will serve as a key transport link and enable people to travel quickly from Container Road via Vaduthala to Kaloor, thereby bypassing the congested National Highway.
An administrative sanction of ₹34.24 crore has been granted for the project. As per the revised alignment, around 34 cents of land in the Perandoor area and 55 cents in the Vaduthala area have been acquired. The proposed bridge will have a total length of 153.6 metres and an overall width of 11 metres.
