Construction begins for Singapore’s long-delayed fourth egg farm
Construction has commenced on Singapore's fourth egg farm in Lim Chu Kang, which is expected to produce 500 million eggs annually at full capacity. This project is part of a national effort to increase domestic food security.
Why it matters
Increasing local food production is a strategic priority for Singapore to reduce reliance on imports and ensure supply chain resilience.
When fully built, the farm is expected to produce more than 500 million eggs yearly, which is almost a quarter of Singapore's current annual egg consumption.
