Conservatory holds butterfly awareness programmes for students
The Tropical Butterfly Conservatory in Srirangam is hosting educational programs throughout September to mark 'Butterfly Month'. Students are participating in workshops, competitions, and field walks to learn about butterfly conservation and ecology.

September is being observed as ‘Butterfly Month’ at the Tropical Butterfly Conservatory, Srirangam, with a host of educational programmes being conducted for visitors and students.
According to an official press release, the activities, being held under the guidance of the Conservator of Forests, R. Kanchana and District Forest Officer, S. Krithiga, are aimed at creating awareness among school students about the importance of butterflies, their habitats, their role in the environment, and the need for biodiversity conservation.
This week, over 100 students of Vignesh Sri Renga Matriculation Higher Secondary School participated in various competitions and educational activities related to butterflies.
The Butterfly Walk introduced students to the various species found in the Conservatory. They were also taught how to identify butterflies based on their colour, wing structure, patterns, and distinctive identification markings.
