conscious mobile users with new approach to streaming

A new streaming platform called Aurodig is launching in Nigeria, targeting mobile-first users with a data-conscious approach. The service allows users to pay for content individually rather than through traditional monthly subscriptions.
Why it matters
This model addresses the specific infrastructure challenges of mobile-first markets in Africa, potentially disrupting traditional streaming business models.
A new streaming platform, Aurodig, is seeking to reshape the digital entertainment experience by combining data-conscious streaming, regional content and a direct-to-fan payment model aimed at consumers who rely primarily on mobile data. Aurodig is designed as a platform where users can access movies, television shows, podcasts and other entertainment content without being tied exclusively to the conventional flat monthly subscription model used by many streaming services. As part of its content strategy, Aurodig said it will collaborate with established filmmakers and content creators, including Saheed Apanpa, one of Nollywood’s busiest directors. With hundreds of film titles to his credit, Apanpa has built a reputation for consistently producing content across multiple genres. The company said partnerships with experienced industry professionals such as Apanpa reflect its commitment to expanding its content library while creating greater visibility for African storytelling across local and international audiences.
