Tension prevailed in front of the camp office of the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay in Karimnagar on Wednesday when a group of Congress cadres staged a protest over the alleged detention of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a demonstration in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The Congress workers raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and staged a sit-in, prompting BJP cadres to raise counter-slogans.
A war of words ensued, leading to a brief commotion. Police intervened and dispersed the Congress cadres.
A posse of police personnel was deployed at Mr. Sanjay’s camp office as a precautionary measure. Mr. Sanjay is currently attending the Parliament session in New Delhi.
