Congress names candidates for Maharashtra MLC polls

The Congress party has announced its candidates for three Maharashtra Legislative Council seats ahead of the October 23 polls. The Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance is coordinating its strategy for the upcoming elections for Teachers and Graduates constituencies.

The Congress announced candidates for three constituencies for Teachers and Graduates of the Maharashtra Vidhan Parishad. Polling for five seats, comprising three constituencies for Graduates and two for Teachers, will take place on October 23.
The party renominated MLC Abhijit Wanjari for the constituency for Graduates of Nagpur Division, and member Jayant Dinkar Asagaonkar for the seat for Teachers of Pune Division. The party fielded Aditi Pohare for the constituency for Teachers of Amravati.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) announced a plan to contest the polls. The MVA took the decision in a meeting attended by Congress leader Naseem Khan, NCP (SP) leaders Shashikant Shinde and Harshwardhan Patil, and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut. Mr. Khan said talks were held for the constituency for Graduates of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the constituency for Graduates of Pune, and the constituency for Teachers of Amravati.
