Congress leaders dismisses BRS criticism
The Telangana Congress has launched a political offensive against the BRS, accusing the former government of failing to fulfill promises and dismissing opposition-led surveys as bogus. The party is focusing on highlighting its own welfare schemes through exhibitions and public statements.
Why it matters
It reflects the ongoing political rivalry and narrative battle between major political parties in the Indian state of Telangana.
The Telangana Congress on Tuesday stepped up its political attack on the BRS, accusing it of failing to fulfil promises during its decade-long rule and alleging that the Opposition was attempting to undermine the Congress government through what it described as “bogus” surveys and criticism of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress leaders sought to contrast the welfare measures introduced by the Congress government with the BRS’s record during its 10 years in office. A photo exhibition titled ‘Lies versus Facts’ was organised under the leadership of Fisheries Cooperative Corporation chairman Mettu Sai Kumar, highlighting promises made by the previous BRS government and the schemes being implemented by the present Congress government.
