Congress leaders back CM’s plan for Amaraveerula Colony at Erravelli

Congress leaders in Telangana are advocating for the creation of a 'Martyr's Colony' at Erravelli to support families of state activists. They have called for the recovery of government and assigned lands allegedly encroached upon by the previous administration.
Why it matters
This highlights ongoing political tensions and land reform disputes between the current Congress government and the former BRS leadership in Telangana.
Government Whip in the Council, Addanki Dayakar and former MLC Ramulu Naik thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for proposing the construction of an Amaraveerula Colony (Martyr’s Colony) at Erravelli and demanded that lands allegedly taken over from poor and assigned land beneficiaries be recovered and allotted to the families of Telangana martyrs.
Mr. Dayakar alleged that government, poor people’s, assigned, Bhoodan and Wakf lands had been encroached upon during the previous government and said such lands should be recovered and distributed to the families of martyrs.
He sought clarity on the whereabouts of 45 acres in Survey No. 325 at Erravelli and asked former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to disclose details of lands owned by his family. He also alleged that several properties had been acquired in the names of benamis and subsequently transferred to private ownership.
