This highlights ongoing political tensions regarding budget allocation for marginalized groups and the rhetoric used by political parties in India.
Raghu Kautilya, BJP MLC and State president of the party’s OBC Morcha, on Saturday (October 3) alleged that the Congress government in Karnataka was neglecting backward communities by allocating inadequate funds to development corporations meant for their welfare.
Addressing a press conference at the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI) in Kalaburagi, Mr. Kautilya said that Congress leaders often claimed that their government was committed to the development of backward communities, but the allocations made in the 2026-27 Budget did not support the claim.
He said the government had allocated ₹129 crore to the Devaraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation, ₹17.88 crore to the Vishwakarma Community Development Corporation, ₹6.88 crore to the Ambigara Choudayya Development Corporation, ₹16.5 crore to the Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes Development Corporation, ₹82.5 crore to the Veerashaiva Lingayat Development Corporation and ₹82.5 crore to the Vokkaliga Development Corporation.
