BRS leader Puvvada Ajay Kumar has accused the Congress government in Telangana of failing to fulfill election promises regarding unemployment benefits and job recruitment. The statement followed a visit to a government job aspirant who allegedly attempted suicide.
Why it matters
It highlights the growing political tension and social unrest surrounding youth unemployment and government accountability in Indian state politics.
Former minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Puvvada Ajay Kumar on Sunday alleged that the Congress government had failed to fulfil its promises to unemployed youth, including issuing a job calendar for releasing recruitment notifications on a regular basis and paying unemployment allowance.
He was speaking to the media after enquiring about the health condition of G. Venu Kumar, a post-graduate and government job aspirant from Kotha Laxmipuram village, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Khammam. Former Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao and others were also present.
According to BRS leaders, Venu Kumar allegedly attempted to end his life by consuming a poisonous substance on Saturday. His condition was stated to be stable.
