The Mini Vidhana Soudha in Kalaburagi witnessed a show of strength by the Congress and BJP-JD(S) alliance on Monday as candidates of both parties filed their nominations for the Legislative Council’s North-East Teachers’ constituency, setting the stage for a high-voltage electoral contest.
Congress candidate Sharanappa Mattur filed his nomination papers before Returning Officer and Regional Commissioner Zaheera Naseem at her office. Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil, Radhakrishna Doddamani, Kalaburagi MP, MLAs Allamprabhu Patil and Kaneez Fatima and other Congress leaders and party workers were present on the occasion.
