A two-day national fisherwomen’s conclave on ‘Empowering Women in India’s Blue Economy: Recognition, Inclusion and Partnering’ began at the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) here on Friday (September 18, 2026).

B. Meenakumari, former Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, was the chief guest.

Around 60 women from Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh attended the conclave.
