Concerns for Montrealers with reduced mobility as streets close for major cycling races
Montreal residents with reduced mobility are raising concerns about accessibility as major cycling events force month-long road closures. City officials acknowledge that the disruptions will be difficult for those relying on paratransit services, though no perfect solution has been identified.

A section of Park Avenue has been closed since Sept. 5, between des Pins and Mont-Royal Avenues, and will remain closed until Oct. 4 for the upcoming UCI Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal on Sept. 13 and the Road World Championships the week after.
Organizers have said the month-long closure is necessary to allow for the construction and subsequent dismantling of a temporary stadium on Park, able to accommodate up to 200,000 people.
For France Martin, who lives in Montreal's Ville-Marie borough and uses a wheelchair, the road closures are cause for concern.
"I found out this morning that my paratransit service won't be able to reach my home," she said during a recent borough council meeting.
