Compost microbe yields enzyme that tackles polyurethane foam and nylon

Researchers have identified 12 enzymes from bacteria collected in diverse environments that can break down polyurethane and nylon. This bioprospecting effort aims to develop more effective methods for recycling difficult plastics.
