The State government has increased compensation for agricultural land to be utilised for laying additional pipeline in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts under the IDPL project of BPCL to 125% from 100 %, as a special case.

Land use rights for the IDPL project, executed along the existing 74-kilometer Right of Use (RoU) corridor from Irugur in Coimbatore district to Devanangonthi, was already obtained under the Coimbatore-Karur pipeline project in 1998.

According to officials, the project began in December 2023, and approximately 70% of the work has been completed.

For completing the remaining work, discussions on compensation were held with farmers in Tiruppur district.

The farmers, officials said, had asked for higher compensation for wet and dry agricultural lands, during discussions with the Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare K.L. Arunraj, the In-Charge Minister for Tiruppur district.
