Namibian boxer Tryagain Morning Ndevelo has been handed a walkover victory at the Commonwealth Games by default because his opponent missed the call time. Anthony Joseph of Trinidad and Tobago was due to fight Ndevelo in the men’s 60kg boxing in Glasgow on Sunday but, when the bell rung to start the first round, was nowhere to be seen. When Joseph did finally appear, officials stopped him from entering the ring because he was too late. The blunder sees Ndevelo progress through to the round of 16 as he attempts to win a Commonwealth title at his third Games. Elsewhere in the ring, Paul Trainor has opened Australia’s boxing campaign with a win that had the hosts fuming. The referee stopped the 80kg fight with 37 seconds left in the second round because of injury, after Trainor had knocked out Scot Alan Perrie’s mouthguard.
