Madurai Commissioner of Police S. Rajendiran on Thursday honoured Karumalai Kannan, a security personnel at Government Rajaji Hospital, for his honesty in handing over ₹69,380 he had found on the hospital premises to the police on Wednesday.
The police said that S. Mariammal of Kalavasal had been attending to her aged mother, who had been admitted to the GRH for treatment.
The daughter had absent-mindedly left her bag containing the cash somewhere.
However, Karumalai Kannan, employed by a contractor, had found the bag and handed it over to the GRH police station.
