Commanders star Terry McLaurin carted off after knee injury early in loss to 49ers
Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin suffered a significant knee injury during a loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The injury adds to the struggles of the Commanders, who currently hold a 1-4-1 record, while the 49ers remain undefeated.
Why it matters
The loss of a star player significantly impacts the competitive outlook for the Commanders during a difficult season.
The Washington Commanders lost star wide receiver Terry McLaurin early Monday night after he went down with what appears to be a significant knee injury.
McLaurin was running a route near the end of the first quarter of Washington's 23-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers when he suddenly fell near the sideline at Levi's Stadium. Replay showed that McLaurin's left knee gave out on him and buckled as he was planting to the outside.
He remained down on the field for quite some time in front of the Commanders' bench, clearly in a lot of pain.
A cart eventually came out for McLaurin, and he hopped up and onto the vehicle under his own power with his entire left leg in a full air cast. Players from both teams then saw him off.
