Why it matters
College football is a major cultural and economic driver in the U.S. sports landscape, influencing rankings and playoff prospects.
Week 1 action continued Sunday with a contentious rivalry matchup, a game at a historic NFL stadium and an ACC vs. SEC showdown between playoff hopefuls. But of those intriguing storylines, only one game delivered. No. 9 Ole Miss and No. 24 Louisville had a relatively slow first half before an offensive explosion in the second half which ended with a walk-off field goal by Lucas Carneiro in a 41-38 win for the Rebels. Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss and Louisville's Lincoln Kienholz traded long touchdowns late in the offensive duel. Kienholz rallied the Cardinals back from 14 down with just under four minutes to tie the game at 38-38.
