The programme was organised as the second event under the district administration’s Namma Nagai Koottam initiative, which aims at promoting community participation in social and environmental causes.
District Collector K .J. Praveen Kumar said Namma Nagai Koottam would organise a range of activities every month, including blood donation camps, used clothes donation drives, old book collection campaigns, and other community welfare programmes. He said the initiative began with a beach clean-up drive at Nagore while the mangrove plantation programme marked its second major event.
