Collector lauds ‘Lab on Wheels’ for bringing free digital education directly to students
The Sri Sathya Sai District Collector has launched the 'Lab on Wheels' initiative, a mobile laboratory providing free STEM education to rural and urban students. The project offers hands-on training in robotics, 3D printing, and electronics to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and industry skills.
Why it matters
Mobile education initiatives are critical for democratizing access to advanced technical skills in underserved regions.
Students should strive beyond theoretical learning and acquire modern technical skills to keep pace with changing times, said Sri Sathya Sai District Collector A. Shyam Prasad.
The Collector flagged off the “Infosys Springboard Maker Lab on Wheels” initiative at Kothacheruvu Junior College on Wednesday. The innovative mobile laboratory was jointly developed by Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and Infosys Foundation to provide free practical digital education.
The Collector said “Lab on Wheels” would play a crucial role in delivering advanced STEM education and praised the initiative for bringing high-tech knowledge directly to rural and urban students.
Mr. Shyam Prasad said that the mobile lab would offer hands-on training in electronics, robotics, microcontrollers and 3D printing. “This can help students learn about electronic components, sensors, LEDs, motors, switches, and basic circuit designing, and understanding how electrical systems work in daily life,” he said.
