Collector inspects first-level checking of EVMs for urban, rural local body polls in Erode
District officials in Erode are conducting the first-level checking of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) ahead of upcoming local body elections. The process involves testing 4,400 new units from Bharat Electronics Limited to ensure technical integrity and transparency.

District Election Officer and Collector S. Kandasamy inspected the first-level checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to be used for the forthcoming urban and rural local body elections here on Wednesday (August 5, 2026).
The district has received 4,400 new EVMs from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bengaluru, including 2,080 Control Units (CUs) and 2,380 Ballot Units (BUs) for use in the elections.
The Unit Acceptance Test (UAT) and FLC, which began on Tuesday (August 4, 2026), will continue till August 7. The exercise is being carried out by district officials and engineers in the presence of BEL engineers.
