Collector inaugurates IEC intensified campaign 2026 in Salem
Salem District Collector K. Elambahavath has launched a two-month HIV/AIDS awareness campaign as part of a national initiative. The program includes rallies, testing camps, and educational outreach to reduce social stigma and promote prevention.

Salem District Collector K. Elambahavath inaugurated the Intensified Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign 2026 and an awareness rally on Tuesday (August 18, 2026).
The National AIDS Control Organisation launched the campaign across the country, which will be held from August 12 to October 12, 2026. The two-month long drive aims to create awareness among government, government-aided and private students about HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, treatment and ending social stigma.
On Tuesday, the Collector and City Police Commissioner K. Joshi Nirmal Kumar inaugurated the awareness rally and signature campaign. More than 500 students participated in the rally which travelled via the Thiruvalluvar Statue, the Corporation Office, and the Government Hospital and reached the Collectorate.
