Cold, wet weather delays power restoration in parts of Joburg
Johannesburg's power utility, City Power, is struggling to restore electricity due to a combination of high demand during cold weather and waterlogged infrastructure. Residents are being urged to reduce consumption to help stabilize the network.

JOHANNESBURG - City Power is responding to over 3,000 open calls as it tries to attend to multiple power outages across its network.
Add to that, that is the current cold and wet weather conditions, which are placing significant pressure on the network.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said the number of individual calls remains exceptionally high, with a significant portion logged in the past 24 hours.
He said they are also dealing with new faults alongside ongoing restoration, which are already experiencing delays.
