The theft of piping used to heat classrooms at Bulls School has left a Rangitikei District councillor concerned that children returning to school on Monday will suffer.
The primary school was the target of copper theft about 10.15am on Saturday.
In a social media post , Bulls School said the theft had caused "significant disruption" to the school.
Councillor Paul Sharland, who has lived in the town for more than 30 years, said he was disgusted.
"It's pretty sad that somebody can come along and pinch something from a primary school - I mean, pinch anything from anywhere really, but especially from a primary school," he said.
