Coimbatore Western Bypass development expected to enter phase II

The development of the Coimbatore Western Bypass road project for is expected to enter its second phase soon with the State government likely to make the necessary fund allocations.
The 32.43-km bypass road project was conceived in 2007, and its construction was divided into three phases. In the first phase (11.80 km) from Madukkarai Mailkal to Sellampalayam, the road has been laid and opened for traffic.
For the second phase (12.10 km) from Sellampalayam to Kanuvai, over 90% of the land acquisition has been done by the Construction and Maintenance (C&M) Wing of the Highways Department. The C&M Wing has estimated the development cost to be ₹368 crore.
