The Coimbatore District Police seized 7.7 kg of ganja, 45 kg of banned tobacco products and arrested 14 persons in simultaneous surprise checks carried out at 228 locations here early on Sunday (October 11, 2026).

According to the police, searches were carried out at 132 locations in Kovilpalayam and Chettipalayam police station limits under the Karumathampatty Sub-Division and 96 places in Madukkarai and K.G. Chavadi station limits under the Perur Sub-Division.

Based on the instructions of Superintendent of Police A. Pavan Kumar Reddy, 42 special teams in Karumathampatty Sub-Division and 30 special teams in Perur Sub-Division, totalling 72 special teams comprising 480 personnel, carried out the searches.
