Coimbatore District Police seek support of parcel service providers to curb drug trafficking

The Coimbatore District Police on Monday convened a meeting with representatives of courier service companies, parcel handling agencies and logistics operators to bolster coordination in preventing illegal transportation of narcotic drugs.
Chaired by Superintendent of Police A. Pavan Kumar Reddy, the consultative session focused on curbing the trafficking of ganja, methamphetamine, psychotropic tablets and other contraband substances through courier channels functioning across the district.
The SP instructed service providers to verify identity and details of senders before accepting consignments. They were told to scrutinise bookings featuring incomplete addresses, invalid contact numbers or dubious particulars.
Courier firms were urged to monitor frequent consignments involving unknown persons or college students with improper particulars. Employees should remain vigilant for suspicious parcels, unusual booking patterns and abnormal customer behaviour, the office told them.
