The Coimbatore Corporation has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) for a ₹73.05-crore project to strengthen and develop the banks of River Noyyal along a 4.30-km stretch within the city.

The proposed works will cover both banks of the river between Aathupalam junction and Nanjundapuram bridge. The project is aimed at strengthening the riverbanks and developing public amenities along the stretch.

According to the Corporation, the works will include a range of riverbank protection and beautification measures, including geocells, stepped gabion walls and retaining walls. A 1,270-metre-long retaining wall and a 660-metre-long stone masonry wall are also proposed.

The project will also include a cycle track and walkway, parking facilities, gardens and green spaces, 50 stone seating areas and a 3,717 sq.m leisure space. About 11.75 km of fencing is proposed along the riverbank, along with safety bollards and revolving gates.
