Coimbatore Corporation reviews dengue, scrub typhus prevention in hostels

Coimbatore Corporation held a meeting with hostel managements and representatives on Tuesday to review dengue and scrub typhus prevention measures in hostels across the city.

The meeting, chaired by Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja, focused on maintaining hygienic conditions, preventing mosquito breeding and strengthening disease surveillance in hostels.

Mr. Ravi Teja said the number of dengue cases had been declining over the past three weeks. The city recorded 157 cases in July and 171 in August, while 45 cases had been reported in September so far.

“Some of these institutions have highly unhygienic conditions. We are inspecting them, and penalties will be imposed if they fail to maintain the required standards,” he said.
