The Coimbatore Corporation will undertake a month-long drive to create awareness among residents on rainwater harvesting and strengthen systems to conserve rainwater and recharge groundwater ahead of the northeast monsoon.

A senior Corporation official said 74 rainwater stagnation points were identified in the West Zone alone, with assessment of other areas under way. Most of the identified points were on main roads, where runoff would be channelled to nearby wells or defunct borewells through suitable recharge structures.
