Codissia moots support for farmers to market their produce
The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codissia) is exploring ways to help farmers market their produce directly at trade fairs. Experts at the event emphasized the need for mechanization, tree-based agriculture, and improved soil health to mitigate farming risks.

The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codissia) has mooted measures to support farmers market their produce.
“Agri Intex was started to support farmers in mechanisation and increasing the yield. The Codissia is also considering measures that will help farmers market their produce (at the fair) on a trial basis, though this is at a very preliminary stage,” said the association president V. Rangaswamy at the inaugural of Uzhave Thalai 8.0 on Friday.
V.T. Valluvan, organic farmer, said farmers should move towards tree-based agriculture and look at inter-crops. Agriculture is a high risk business as input costs are rising and there is no price for the produce. Following the “five i” method, farmers can increase their revenue and improve the soil health of the farms, he said.
