Cochin Shipyard, Synergy sign MoU for shipbuilding, conversion

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and Singapore-based Synergy Marine Group have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly pursue shipbuilding, repair and conversion projects in India.

The MoU was signed in Kochi on September 22 by Rajesh Gopalakrishnan, Director (Technical), CSL, and Ajay Chaudhry, Co-CEO, Ship Management, Synergy Marine Group. CSL Chairman and Managing Director Jose V.J. and Synergy Group CEO Jesper Kristensen were present.

The agreement covers joint business development in ship repair, conversion, newbuilding, module fabrication and oil and gas projects. It also provides for technical and strategic advisory support from Synergy to CSL’s newbuilding activities, including project planning, execution and quality assurance. The terms of this support are to be mutually agreed. Opportunities will be assessed against client requirements and the suitability of CSL’s facilities.

The collaboration is aimed at international shipowners.
