Coastguard called to 'tragic' Essex beach incident
Emergency services, including the Coastguard and RNLI, are responding to a 'tragic incident' at West Mersea Beach in Essex. Authorities have cordoned off the area and are conducting searches along the shoreline and in the water.

The Coastguard said it was called to a "tragic incident" on West Mersea Beach, with people being asked to stay away from the area.
Essex Police, the RNLI and the East of England Air Ambulance were also in attendance in the seaside town, near Colchester, on Wednesday evening and were seen searching the coastline and the water.
In a post on Facebook, West Mersea Coastguard Rescue Team said it had been called to a "tragic incident" on the beach and its thoughts were with the family involved.
Police have asked the public to avoid the Seaview Avenue and beach area.
