A new coastal road project connecting Koyilandy harbour with Kollam Angadi is nearing completion to improve local connectivity. The concrete road, built to withstand sea erosion, will provide fisherfolk with direct access to the harbour without using the national highway.

A coastal road connecting Koyilandy harbour with Kollam Angadi is set to become a reality. The project is nearing completion by linking several previously disconnected stretches of the road. As part of the work, two small bridges have been constructed across the Arayankavu canal and Koothavally canal.
The project is being executed under the supervision of the Harbour Engineering Sub-Division Office, Koyilandy, at a cost of ₹1.16 crore. Considering the vulnerability of the coastline to sea erosion and tidal ingress, the road is being laid as a concrete carriageway.
Officials of the Harbour Engineering department said the road was expected to be opened to traffic by the end of July or early next month. “The construction of the two bridges has been completed. Concreting of the road surface is progressing and is nearing completion,” an official said.
