Dr Roger Kumar, Founder and Managing Director of CASE Group, has welcomed the Government of India’s growing momentum on coal gasification. He calls the Rs. 37,500-crore Scheme for Promotion of Surface Coal/Lignite Gasification Projects one of the most significant steps yet towards Atmanirbhar Bharat in energy.
The Union Cabinet approved the scheme on 13 May 2026. It aims to support projects gasifying around 75 million tonnes of coal and lignite, advancing the National Coal Gasification Mission’s target of 100 million tonnes by 2030.
