CMRS begins three-day safety inspection of Namma Metro Pink Line

The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety has initiated a three-day inspection of the 7.5-km elevated section of Bengaluru's Namma Metro Pink Line. This safety clearance is a mandatory step before the line can be opened for public passenger services.
Why it matters
The Pink Line is a vital infrastructure project intended to improve urban mobility in Bengaluru, and its opening is highly anticipated by commuters.
The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS), Southern Circle, Bengaluru, V. Venkatasubramanian, along with his team, began a three-day safety inspection of the 7.5-km elevated section of Namma Metro’s Pink Line on Tuesday.
The inspection covers the elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere, comprising six stations.
“The CMRS inspection is a mandatory statutory process before the metro section can be opened for public carriage. The safety assessment will be conducted over three days before the required authorisation for commencing passenger services is considered,” a BMRCL official said.
If the section receives the mandatory safety clearance from the CMRS, BMRCL can proceed with preparations to open the stretch for passenger services.
