After months of uncertainty, the makers of actor-turned-politician and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Vijay ’s swansong film Jana Nayagan recently announced that the film will finally release in theatres on July 23 . The news, which came a week after the film got its CBFC certification, has expectedly forced a slew of smaller Tamil films to reconsider or reschedule their releases.
The upcoming film DC , which marks Vijay’s close friend and collaborator Lokesh Kanagaraj ’s acting debut, was originally slated to release on July 31. However, since that will put DC ’s release just a week closer to Jana Nayagan ’s release on July 23, the former’s production banner, Sun Pictures, announced that the film has been pushed to August 7. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the action drama also stars Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy in pivotal roles.
